Respect For All

Burren Junction Branch ICPA

Hi Everyone,

Burren Branch had its AGM at Rowena on the 13th October and it was great to see a few new faces. There was lots of discussion about ICPA matters and lots of information was shared. We all enjoyed a nice lunch after the meeting and it was nice to just sit and chat with everyone.

I am writing to you as the newly elected President. For those who do not know me my name is Anna Sevil, I live near Rowena and have two children Zoe and Ben. Rhonda Palmer is staying on as secretary and although we did not have a treasurer by the end of the meeting, Vanessa Radford has since put up her hand and is going to take on the role. Bernie Bierhoff has taken on the Vice President’s role. Thank you to all those people for taking on positions. I know how busy everyone is and appreciate your contribution.

I would like to say a big thank you to Meg Pawley, Wendy Cameron and David Cameron, all whom have been involved with Burren Branch for years and have given countless hours of their time and knowledge to the ICPA. I know personally I would not be comfortable taking on this new role if I did not have their support and wisdom at hand. I hope we continue to see you at ICPA meetings and gatherings in the future. Thank you once again.

As I said in my pre meeting email Burren is very lucky to have the past State President as a member and David has a wealth of knowledge about all things ICPA.

ICPA is still as relevant today as it was when it was formed 41 years ago. There are still many issues facing parents as they try to access their choice of the most appropriate education for their children. The question often asked is ‘What do I get as a member of ICPA?’ The reply is threefold. Firstly, as a member you will receive information relevant to any stage of education from Preschool to Tertiary. This information comes via the newsletters The Top Wire and Pedals and also via Branch Bulletins and State Memos from Federal and State Council. These are sent when an issue arises between these publications and to keep you informed of current events. Secondly, you are putting your weight behind the lobbying efforts done on members’ behalf and thirdly it gives you a voice. As a member you are able to put a motion to conference via your branch. If passed this then becomes part of ICPA’s policy.

It is time to renew your membership for 2013. If you have a change of details please update on the form below. Should you wish to join Burren Junction ICPA Branch please complete the form below . Burren Junction membership is $60 per family membership. If you know anyone else who would like to join please pass this information along or send their name to  Rhonda ,  Vanessa or myself. The next meeting will be early February after school returns but motions for State Conference will close just before this so if anyone has anything they would like to be put forward please send it to me. If you are unsure how to word the motion we are able to help with this. This can then be ratified at the February meeting.

Please take the time to open and read the attachments and fill in the membership application form below. Memberships are due by the 30th November 2012. All enquiries Vanessa Radford. Prompt payment is a huge help to the treasurer.

Yours sincerely,

Anna Sevil
